Fall of the Dracomancer

Burning Skies (Book One)

Kalindra and her companions felt the cold of despair seep into their bones as they fled from the frozen north. They had failed to prevent the Blackness Beyond from unleashing its dark power upon Parthenis. The only thing that kept them from giving up was the dying words of Yenderen.

Kalindra and her friends resolved to fight until their last breath, even if it meant chasing a false hope, rather than surrendering to their doom. They soared eastward, towards Parthenis, and gasped at the sight of Corvenhold and the other isles of the Oldenford archipelago engulfed in flames.

They descended on a nearby island to join the defenders, but Kalindra’s presence did not go unnoticed by a spy of the Sightless Cabal, who alerted his fellow conspirators, and soon Kalindra and her friends found themselves surrounded by enemies.

Would they be able to escape the trap, or would they perish in the flames of the Blackness Beyond?

Scorched Lands (Book Two)

After narrowly escaping Oldenford’s horrors, Kalindra braces her people for what’s coming. As the Blackness Beyond claims its first victim, she fears over Lundell’s fate and her loved ones’ safety. Though united against a shared foe, distrust still festers among Parthenis’ rulers.

Amidst uncertainty, Kalindra and her companions struggle to find a way forward. But just when things seem bleakest, an unexpected ally offers hope and a chance to save Parthenis.

Meanwhile, Kalindra and Rina journey south to confront the Blackness. Along the way, they must also confront their own issues. As they navigate the danger and their own feelings, they find themselves racing against time to save the rest of Parthenis and salvage their bond.

Endtimes (Book Six)

Conquest of the Dracomancer

Tides of Blackness (Book One)

A dawning darkness…

Months after Kalindra survives her sham trial at Sil’derel, exposing the demidrake Ulfaren as a fraud, and revealing the horror of the newly born voidragons to her fellow Dracomancers, the threat Parthenis faces has become clear: beyond the growing power of Albrecht Therin and his Alliance, worse than the political strife in Tar’Derel and other gean enclaves, the Sightless Cabal is making strides in fully bringing the Blackness Beyond to the world.

A new order…

As Kalindra assumes the mantle of leader of the new Order of Dracomancy, seeking to unify the scattered Dracomancers on Parthenis, she realizes that her brethren have dwindled in number, reduced to barely a thousand. Worse, they discover that a large number of Dracomancers, having allied with the Seeders of the Matron, have slain their dragons and, instead, have become voidragon riders, wielding dreadful incantations, terrible magic, and sowing terror upon those considered enemies by the Alliance.

The time has come, Kalindra realizes, to strike directly at the root of Parthenis’ turmoil–the Sightless Cabal.

Waves of Darkness (Book Two)

Back to the origins…

Kali and her companions set off to Middenacht, an ancient kingdom where mankind is believed to have originated from. They have come prepared for the city of the dead. But just as they thought they were ready, an unexpected party lies in wait for their arrival.

Threat of deception…

The encounter with the Alliance’s forces placed some doubts on Kali’s trust to those close to her. To put her uneasiness at rest, she makes a stop at Corvenhold. After a long time, it’s time to have another talk with her mother.

With the greatest threat now on Parthenis, will Kali be able to carry the burden of choice this time?

Rivers of Disdain (Book Three)

It’s all coming together…
After barely surviving the attack, Kali, Lan, and Maya must trudge on to Middenacht castle without Rina. As they navigate through the ruins, the memories of the past come to haunt Maya and Lan but in order to get what they came for, they need to face up to what they’ve done.

It’s all too late…
As they dug deeper into the unknown, the more horrors they uncovered. Years of vengeance and disdain are revealed but the Sightless Cabal might be far too ahead of them.

Flows of Mistrust (Book Four)

Holding on to hope…

Is the only thing keeping Kali and her companions from giving up. Coming back bearing nothing after their failed stint at Middenacht, the group continues to pursue the Liber Oscura with only hope to guide them.

Returning back to her old self…

Petrifies Kali more than facing the Void itself. But in order to infiltrate Tar’derel, she must relearn the ways of the royal court. This time, the success of the mission relies not on her as a renowned dracomancer but as the Crown princess of Lundell.

As they delve deeper into enemy territory, betrayals and mistrust threaten to tear them apart. Will they emerge unchanged, or as completely different people?

Ripples of Contempt (Book Five)

A clash of worlds.

Kalindra grows more restless the longer she, Lan, and Rina stay in the City of Magic. Despite the peace, glamor, and festivities that surround them, the war still rages outside. Will she be able to play her part or end up compromising the whole mission?

A war of hearts.

As Kali and her companions struggle to crack through the facade of Tar’derel and the royal court, she must also come to terms with the changing dynamics of her friends. While they work to uncover the truth, Kali finds that there are other matters of the heart that cannot be ignored.

With enemies at every turn and betrayal lurking in the shadows, the fate of their mission hangs in the balance. Will they be able to restore Parthenis? Or will the seeds of contempt that have been sown tear them apart before they can achieve their goal?

Oceans of Torment (Book Six)

An unexpected alliance

The fate of Parthenis hangs in the balance. With Tar’derel under attack, Kalindra must join forces with an unexpected ally to defend the city from the Alliance. But as the insidious plot to bring about Parthenis’ downfall unfolds, it becomes clear that something drastic must be done to turn the tide of battle.

The final stand

In a final, desperate stand against the Sightless Cabal, Kali and her companions risk everything to keep the Blackness Beyond from consuming their world. But as they face their ultimate foe, the question remains: at what cost will they emerge victorious?

The oceans of torment threaten to consume Parthenis, and time is running out. Will Kalindra and her allies be able to stop the Blackness Beyond, or will the city fall into darkness forever?

Loss of the Unbound (Book One)

The “Ordeal of the Dracomancer” series is the sequel to the “Plight of the Dracomancer” series.

Chaos in the making…

One year has passed since the terrible events at Eldenhaven–one year since the bond shared between Kalindra and Rina was severed. One year since war was declared by Lundell upon Dracomancers, and one year since Parthenis has known nothing but war…

What will become of them as they learn who’s behind the Final War?

An unbreakable bond…

Peace is no longer on Parthenis as hostility is waged not only against Dracomancers but against all geans and nosferati by none other than Kali’s father. It’s not only her father who she has to look out for. More enemies are on the rise as alliances form and word of a new king is now leading a band of rebels.

Times are dangerous on Parthenis but will the return of someone from Kali’s past help her find the answers she’s been looking for?

Tearing of the Veil (Book Three)

A wavering legacy…

The balance on Parthenis grows more precarious but after Kali and Rina spend three months apart from each other, Kali finally brings good news with her.

A treacherous road…

As war continues on, Langley and Kali are on a mission to rebuild a haven for those ostracized by the ongoing devastation perpetrated by the Lord Marshall. Secrets and uncertainty surrounds their alliance but Kali has no choice but to trust his words and travel to the other side of the ocean; where no human, demidrake, or dragon has gone.

As the buried history of Parthenis is finally unveiled, what awaits them on the other side?

A different side of the world…

When the mending of what has been broken becomes possible, will Kali risk it at a dangerous price?

Finding of the Lost (Book Five)

A depraved act…

An atrocity is being committed on Parthenis. No one is longer safe, even in their sleep. Time is running out on Kali and her associates. They must journey to the north before it’s all too late.

An ill omen…

As they arrive at their destination, what’s waiting for them on the other side is anything but what they expected. Even with Light magic at Kali’s disposal, they couldn’t shake the horror that greets them as they witness the magnitude of their enemy’s corruption.

When everything seems against them, will they find their way out? Or will they find something else?

Forging of the Order(Book Six)

A common friend…

Kalindra and Rina have been taken away. Suspicions abound as Syl and Selim seek help from Maya. But they have to put their differences aside if they want to save their friends from the hands of their enemy.

An upcoming trial…

Held captive in a cell by Ulfaren, Kali can at least communicate with Rina through their bond. An escape seems impossible in an unfamiliar territory but Kali has a plan. It will all depend on Rina and the dracomancers of Sil’derel. For now, all they can do is await the trial.

A new order is coming for Parthenis. Will Kalindra have the courage to make the choice again when all of existence is at stake this time?

Parthenian Legends

Join Zirelia Minander on a thrilling adventure through the world of Parthenis.

Dissatisfied with her past as a Dracomancer, Zirelia seeks to make a difference in the world and follow in the footsteps of her friend Kalindra. Together with her dragon Orteg, she sets off on a journey to the north, towards Dumas. Will she find what she’s looking for and help restore balance to the realm?

Light of the Unhallowed

Thousands of years before Kalindra Therin was brought to the nosferatu settlement of Breach, long before the Final War ravaged Parthenis, mankind found its home in the distant land of Middenacht, far to the west, a harsh, hostile land with little, if any, kindness to offer to the weak and destitute, where the rich and powerful would grow fat, while those below their notice would starve – a world not much different than modern-day Parthenis at a first glance, yet fundamentally different.

Maya, daughter of chief scholar Eleazar, is born to such a world. This is her story.

Memoir of the Last Survivor

A different war. The same survivor. Would you be able to change the course of history?

A way out…

During the destruction of the Eldenhaven Academy of Dracomancy, Yenderen, former master of Iclindir, makes his escape, wading through the crumbling hallways of the Academy as its paltry forces wage war with the Alliance brought by Albrecht Therin.

A walk back…

As he escapes the Academy, Yenderen’s wounds and exhaustion get the best of him, making him collapse by the edge of the nearby jungle, only to be accosted by memories returning to his mind after centuries being locked away. Yenderen remembers his days as a scholar from Farendell, a time he shared with the only woman he had truly loved.

Plight of the Dracomancer

Fire and Inferno (Book One)

The “Plight of the Dracomancer” series is the sequel to the “Dracomancer” series.

The choice that started it all.

Two years after the battle at Heartheim, Kalindra’s heart remains restless. As protector of balance, she has yet to glean new information on the Elemental Aspects. Meanwhile, trouble brews among the kingdoms of men and geans, as political allegiances shift, and the value of Dracomancers is diminished due to Kalindra’s choices.

Evolution is just beginning.

Rina, Kalindra’s dragon companion, is changing too quickly for her understanding. Not only is her body growing in size and strength, her knowledge and thinking ability is evolving beyond what is normal for a dragon of her younger generation, causing her to be shunned and feared by her peers.

Danger has come.

Yenderen, Kalindra’s mentor, returns from a diplomatic expedition to Sil’derel Academy, but his return heralds disaster. Battered and wounded atop his dragon Braxenar, he warns of an incoming wave of attackers from Sil’derel Academy. The demidrake shares his fears with Kalindra: That Academies, and the history around them, are a sham, and the once-proud protectors of Balance have become infatuated by their own power.

As the battle is waged on Iclindir, the question remains in Kalindra’s mind: Who, or what is behind the attack on the Academy?

Smoke and Light (Book Two)

A grim reminder…

Another huge aftermath is left behind from the attack by the dracomancers of Sil’derel Academy. Suffering losses after losses, Kalindra and her companions are faced with the fact that while their numbers are decreasing, their enemies not only have multiplied but have grown stronger as well. With Iclindir Academy in shambles, the party marches to New Breach to take refuge with what remains of them.

A dragon’s premonition…

Something is wrong and Rina can feel it. The strange feeling leaves her with doubts and worries. These drastic changes mystify not only Kali but also the others. However, the more they try to understand it, the more they are left with unanswered questions.

A war within…

When one of them gets taken by the enemy, Kali once again finds herself torn between two choices. Haunted by the past consequences of her actions, regrets and uncertainty torment her. As her duty as Guardian of the Balance and her allegiance to her people collided, Kali is not so sure anymore if she’s doing the right thing…

From the smoke of destruction comes a light that can guide them towards the answers they seek, but what could this mean for the fate of Parthenis?

Lies and Destruction (Book Three)

They are at their limit.

No matter where they go, Kalindra and her companions are hunted down by the dragonslayers. Despite the new addition to their party, they cannot withstand their enemies’ relentless attacks and their advanced weaponry puts them at a huge disadvantage. In order to do her duty, Kali must do everything she can even if it means going against her nature.

The blood on their hands takes root.

As the journey towards the truth becomes darker and dangerous, Kali begins to be more ruthless. The path she chose is bloody and the dead bodies of the enemies they have slain starts to permeate through her mind and conscience. She has yet to scratch the surface of Parthenis’ many secrets and the promise of more deaths lingers beyond.

The past has caught up.

Reaching the ruins of Farendell, Kali and her companions realize they can no longer rely on their own knowledge of the history of Parthenis. But as soon as they arrived, their questions beget more questions and what they find in there could lead to more mystery and betrayal.

As they face the destruction of the past, what sort of lies will they uncover?

Truth and Darkness (Book Four)

A troubling present.

Times have changed and the roads are no longer safe for dracomancers and their dragons. The glory that is akin to their species is no more as they are hunted down like animals and are used for practice. Kalindra struggles with the fact that the cause of all this suffering is her own flesh and blood.

A twisted past.

Langley and Branora travel back to New Breach to warn Yenderen of an impending attack towards Eldenhaven. Along the way, Langley grapples with the memories of who he was back when he became a nosferatu. A cure, he believes, exists to end his torment.

The turmoil that lies ahead.

When Kalindra and Rina traverse the desolate dunes, their bond is put to the test. A huge turbulence approaches and it’s unlike anything they’ve been through. In order to survive it, the only thing they can do is trust each other. They begin to see just how much they depend on each other when faced with grave danger.

As they delve further into the unknown, will the truth set them free or plunge them into darkness?

War and Death (Book Five)

Darkness she can’t run from…

Kali and Rina are off to New Breach to share with their fellow dracomancers the discoveries they found from the Reliquary. They are coming home at last but they are not the same as they were before surviving the dangerous journey.

Light she must inspire…

Lan and Branora have tidings of their own. The Dracomancers are gone; scattered across Parthenis. Now that Eldenhaven is under attack, the balance in the world is needed more than ever.

The knowledge that will change everything…

As the truth of the world is no longer hidden, nothing and everything makes sense for Kali and her companions. The knowledge they now hold grows heavier each day and threatens to change the course of Parthenis. But to what path, they don’t know.

Haven and Hope (Book Six)

A bleak legacy.

Parthenis is not the same as it was before. The Dracomancers are divided as ever and another Academy is at the risk of falling into oblivion. As they attempt to recuperate everything before it’s too late, does it really matter when all they’ve come to know is not even close to the whole truth of the world?

A dreaded future.

For years, Kali has fought to keep the balance of Parthenis. Along with her dragon Rina, she has accepted her duty and fate without complaint even if it means going against her flesh and blood. But when her own chosen kin have shunned her, Kali now becomes uncertain of where her loyalty may lie.

Can they free themselves from the past that binds them?
When Kali and her companions journey towards Eldenhaven, they find themselves facing their worst nightmares. Unless they deal with the burden of their past, the world sees its extinction. The longer they withdraw from their fears, the harder it is to bring hope for what will become of Parthenis.

By Dragon’s Light

A Dragon’s Smile (Book One)

Mrs. Anderson burst through the door and immediately locked gazes with him. Her old, wrinkled eyes, usually stern–and a bit malicious- were different now. They were red, and their corners were moist with tears. Something’s wrong, David thought before Mrs. Anderson swallowed and said, “Mr. Reyes?”
“Um… yes, Mrs. Anderson?”
“Please come with me,” she asked uncharacteristically nicely.
“Did I do something wrong?” He asked, standing up.

A pit formed in David’s stomach, and his heart began racing in his chest. “Mrs. Anderson, what happened? What’s wrong?” His teacher’s tearful eyes met his worried gaze; she sniffled, and David’s anxiety grew into distress. “Mrs. Anderson?”

A lonely path…

David is just like any other normal high school student: slacking off from class, planning for the future like he’s got everything figured out, when he receives news of his grandmother’s death.

He has never felt more lost.

A grim secret…

Sara moves in next door on a mission: to befriend David. With her bright smile and outgoing personality, she easily wins him over. This can be the start of her new life.

As more of Sara’s secrets continue to unravel, David is forced with a decision: to stay in the life he has always known or set off with her into the unknown.

A Dragon’s Lament (Book Three)

She’s back to where she came from.
With David by her side, Sara’s returning to the place she had once called home, to find out what the Siblings are after.

Something awakens within him.
After the Bond, David has not been the same. He can’t help the strange feeling that stirred inside him when it comes to Sara.

Along the journey, their relationship is tested. But a much greater trouble awaits them at their destination.

A Dragon’s Heart (Book Four)

Time is running out.
Three weeks pass and David still has no news of Sara. All he knows is that she was taken to the Richat Structure–the Eye of the Sahara, and that he’d do anything to save her.

Bond is growing stronger.
The more time they spend apart, the more their true feelings come to the surface. Can this lead them to do what must be done?

When everything is at stake, Sara and David need to act before it’s all too late.

A Dragon’s Life (Book Five)

An unexpected ally.
David wakes up inside an enormous cavern, where he finds a mysterious being who seems to have knowledge of how to free Sara.

An onerous duty.
With her power, Sara is burdened with great responsibility. In order to fulfill it, she waits for the right moment to strike at her siblings.

Together they can prevail.
Without each other by their side, they are incomplete. Will they be able to find each other before the Sibling’s mad plan comes to fruition?
